DAY TO DAY:  Scenes of Domesticity – Edith Collier

Throughout her career Edith Collier spent time living in the small rural communities of St. Ives and Bibury in England, Bonmahon in Ireland and Kawhia in New Zealand. In these villages she lived with locals and became part of their daily lives. This led to a great empathy and affiliation in her art with everyday life. With sensitivity and care her paintings explore simple domestic duties such as peeling potatoes or visiting the local market.
