From November, 2012 until February 2013 Wellington-based artist Ann Shelton was artist-in-residence at Tylee Cottage, Whanganui. The City of Gold and Lead is Shelton’s post-residency exhibition, in it she explores two events in Whanganui’s history through photographic and moving image works. The first being the case of the city’s Mayor Charles Mackay, and the repercussions of his shooting of Walter D’Arcy Cresswell in 1920. The second, being the 1982 bombing of the Wanganui Computer by Neil Roberts.
