2018 Whanganui Arts Review

10 March 2018 – 13 May 2018

The annual Whanganui Arts Review is the longest running event of its type in the country and in 2018 it clocks up 30 years.

The Arts Review is open to any artist, working in any media in the Whanganui region, including Ruapehu and Rangitikei and all areas that link to the Whanganui River. This makes the Arts Review a true reflection of the Whanganui region’s creative energy.

This year submissions day was on Tuesday 27 February and we had 149 works submitted for consideration. Of that number 117 were selected for exhibition by a professional panel including Sarjeant Gallery Assistant Curator Jessica Kidd, Tylee Cottage Artist in Residence Kate Fitzharris and glass artist David Murray. Karl Chitham, Director of the Tauranga Art Gallery came to Whanganui to judge the exhibition and allocate the Open Award, Excellence Award and the several Merit Awards.
