Part of ‘Pae Kuaka – A knowledge conference converging art & science’
An international panel of artists and scientists will be discussing material culture – physical items formed or fashioned from elements of the lands & waters (including all life within these domains) often representative of a holistic relationship between indigenous communities and the natural environment.
Items of material culture are important to cultural practices connecting human communities, spiritual beliefs and cosmologies. All welcome to this informative discussion to learn about cross cultural perspectives on material culture in contemporary art practices and the connections to science.
