Building on the success of last year’s exhibition He Tohu Tena Pea, Awa Rere Roa – Whanganui Māori Arts Collective in partnership with the Te Whare o Rehua – Sarjeant Gallery is pleased to present Puanga Toi Fest 2024, a 5-week feast of creativity in celebration of Puanga.

Puanga Toi Fest 2024 will be based at Whanganui Arts – At The Centre and will consist of two spaces.

The Front Gallery will house the exhibition Āta Whakarongo – listen carefully. Bringing together over 20 artistic voices ranging from established and emerging manawhenua and pan-Maori artists to create a space of contemplation and reflection for the viewer.

The Back Gallery will be an activation space or a resting space depending on the day.

A series of workshops and experiences are shaping up to activate the space, inviting the community to share some of these experiences. Workshops and wānanga may include; artist talks or presentations, making wānanga like, cyanotype, screen printing, star making, Te Reo Māori sessions, mini exhibitions, etc.

So āta titro,  āta whakarongo – watch and listen carefully, you won’t want to miss it.
