Episode Nine – Tote bags and clay faces
Each year over 3000 primary and secondary school students visit the Sarjeant Gallery.
While at the gallery the students have the opportunity to look at and discuss art, as well as creating original artworks of their own. From drawing to clay, textile to paint, the educators at the Sarjeant Galley can do it all. Balancing teaching to the school curriculum with the ever changing exhibition programme these highly skilled artists and teachers are amazingly flexible, friendly and amazingly creative.
In this episode of the podcast host Sarah McClintock talks with Sarjeant Gallery educators Sietske Jansma and Andrea Gardner about the education programme, the highs and lows of teaching in a gallery, and their remarkable tote bag project.
